Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology B.Sc IT ( BScIT )
Duration of The Programme :- 3 Years Eligibility Criteria:

Admission to First Semester
Admission is open to those candidates who have successfully completed their 10+2 in any discipline.

Lateral Entry Scheme
Admission to Second Semester
The Candidate has successfully Completed 10+2+6 months IT/CS Course from a recognised institute or has a one year of IT experience.

Admission to Third Semester
The Candidate who have successfully completed a 3 year Polytechnic Diploma in any stream from State Technical Board after 10th Standard+6 month Computer Application Course/10+2+1 Year Computer Application.
Or
Admission is open to those candidates who have successfully completed their 10+2 in any discipline and the candidate has successfully completed two semesters of ADCA from TCIL-IT/DIT/DCA from Cal-C after 10+2 or has done one year certificate/ diploma in IT/CS from a reputed/ recognised institute or has two years of IT/CS experience.

Lateral Exit Scheme
After Successful completion of first semester of BScIT, the candidate shall be eligible to obtain a Certificate in Information Technology.
After Successful completion of first two semesters of BScIT, the candidate shall be eligible to obtain a Diploma in Information Technology.
Master of Science in Information Technology (M.Sc IT)
Duration of the Programme : 2 Years

Admission to First Semester :
Admission is open to those candidates who have successfully completed their Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University with mathematics in 10+2
Or
Admission is open to those candidates who have successfully completed their Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University and have either completed their 6 months course in IT/Computer Applications or have one year IT experience.

Lateral Entry Scheme Admission to Second Semester
Admission is open to those candidates who have successfully completed their Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University and have successfully completed four semesters of GNIIT or 2 year certificate course from any recognized institution.

Admission to Third Semester
Admission is open to those candidates who have successfully completed their Gradution in any discipline from a recognised University and has successfully completed PGDCA/PGDIT from a recognised University or BE (CS / IT) or GNIIT or PGDCA from Cal-C or BCA/BSc (CS/IT) from a recognised University/DOEACC 'A' level.
BACHELOR OF COMPUTER APPLICATION - (BCA)
Admission Qualification:
Admission is open to those who have successfully completed 10+2 from any recognized Board / Council.

Program Duration:
The program duration for BCA will be three years comprising of six semesters but the candidate will have to complete the program within six years from the session of enrollment.

Lateral Entry Scheme to 2nd Year (lllrd Semester):
The candidate who has successfully completed 3 years Diploma in IT & C.S.
Scheme of Examination:
a. Internal assessment (IA) through assignments with a weightage of 25%
b. Term-end examination having a weightage of 75%
c. Each paper will be of 100 marks
d. Minimum for pass is each course is 40% [in Internal Assessment + Term End Examination]

Exit scheme of BCA
After successful completion of first semester of BCA, the candidate shall be eligible to obtain a Certificate in Computer Applications.
After successful completion of first two semesters of BCA, the candidate shall be eligible to obtain a Diploma in Computer Applications. After successful completion of all six semesters of BCA, the candidate shall be eligible to obtain a Bachelor in Computer Applications.
MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATION (MCA)
Admission Qualification:
Admission is open to those candidates who have successfully completed their Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University.
Lateral Entry Scheme Admission to Third Semester
Admission is open to those candidates who have successfully completed their Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University along with 1 year PGDCA/ PGDIT/ GNIIT or its equivalent.
Lateral Exit scheme of MCA
After Successful completion of First Two Semester of MCA, the candidate shall be eligible to obtain a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA)
After Successful Completion of First Four Semesters of MCA, the candidate shall be eligible to obtain Advanced Diploma in Computer Application (ADCA)
After Successful completion of all six semesters of MCA, the candidate shall be eligible to obtain a degree of Master in Computer Application (MCA)
Note: The student who will opt for lateral exit will not be able to continue this programme. Program Duration:

M.Sc COMPUTER SCIENCE
As we enter the 21 st Century, the realm of electronic communication, which encompasses telecommunication, broadcasting, Information Technology and Enabled services in industries, is undergoing profound changes leading to Global Information Infrastructure (Gil). This is capable of carrying any type of Information. Information Communication Technology is increasingly powerful tool for development of Nation and transformed the way of human life as no other technology has. As India is emerging as an IT Superpower in the world, it is our responsibility to think on the advances in this area by harnessing the younger generation in IT/Computer Education.
In view of this, the Karnataka State Open University is offering a Two Year semester based M.Sc. in Computer Science Degree Programme (Two Semester per year-Total Four Semesters). The programme is specifically designed for a targeting the Research and Development, Teaching and Software developing in the field of Computer Science. This programme content is designed in such a way that it can mould candidates to get their job in IT Computers and other sectors.

The Karnataka State Open University's M.Sc. [Computer Science] Programme is tightly scheduled and highly structured, client centered programme that aims at developing the software professionals to keep abreast of the most recent development in the field of Computer Science for the requirements of the dynamic and highly global environment of the present era. The curriculum based on the feedback from the best programmes available in the market, aims at enriching and sharpening software developing skills.
In short, the programme will develop in participants a variety of research and development and teaching skills that will lend a new edge and force to their own skills to handle myriads of challenges in the ever changing scenario of modern Software developing field. The programme also offers the much needed channel for upward mobility among practising R & D in universities / Industries / Colleges, Teaching, Professionals, Software Engineers, and Programmers, System Programmers etc., at their own workplaces.

Title and duration of the programme
1. The post-graduate programme in Computer Science will be called as the Master of Science in Computer Science
2. The M.Sc. Computer Science programme will be of two academic year's duration and conducted in four semesters with each semester having an academic duration of 14 to 16 weeks.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION
The medium of instruction of M.Sc. Computer Science programme is English only. However, Examination may be answered in English and Kannada only. Under open distance system, a paper is called "Course" and a course as "Programme".

ADMISSION QUALIFICATION
The candidates who fulfill any one of the condition as stated below are eligible to seek admission in M.SC. Computer Science.
a) B.Sc/B.E. graduates perceiving the higher qualification are admitted to M.SC. Computer Science having studied Computer Science / Information Technology / Information Science / Computer Application as one of the major subjects with atleast 50% of marks.
b) B.C. A with aggregate of 50% and above.
c) B.Sc/B.E. graduates having studied Computer Science/Information Technology/Information Science/Computer Application as one of the major subjects.
B.C.A graduates with atleast 3 years of experience in IT field /Teaching.
POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER APPLICATION - PGDCA
Duration of The Programme:- 1 Years
Eligibility for Admission : Admission is open to those candidates who have successfully completed their Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University.
